Charles Audoin is widely regarded as the most renowned wine producer in the Marsannay appellation (as also claimed by critic Robert Parker). Located in the northernmost part of the Côte de Nuits, Marsannay is a premium producer of wines.
VINTAGE: 2020
ALC: 13%
VARIETAL: Produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown on marly soils, the Cuvée Charlie takes its name from the daughter of Cyril, son of Charles and currently manager of the company, born in 2016.
AGING: The wine ages for 12 months in half oak barrels.
TASTING: This full-bodied and elegant white shows intense buttery scents to the nose, mixed with fresh fruity notes of citrus and stone fruit and subtle woody and vanilla hints. In the mouth, the wine is wide and round and shows slight fatness that gives a good consistency and balances the mineral and buttery notes. The finish is long and fresh.
SERVING: Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service.
FOOD PAIRING: The wine is perfect with seafood and grilled fish, but it also goes well with chicken and turkey.
