Château Le Coteau in Margaux has been in the same family for several generations and was listed in the first Cru Bourgeois classification of 1932.
The vines are planted around the villages of Arsac and Labarde, amongst the vineyards of his prestigious neighbours. Sustainable farming is implemented.
The grapes are picked by hand. Traditional red wine vinification. Ageing in French oak barrels with 30% of the barrels renewed each year. Racking every three months before bottling, which takes place eighteen months after the harvest.
VINTAGE: 2017
VARIETALS: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot
ALC: 13%
TASTING NOTES:
The deep purple/ruby-hued 2017 Chateau Le Coteau checks in as equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and spent 15 months in barrels, with 25% being new. This medium-bodied, nicely textured, balanced Margaux has impressive aromatics of black cherries, dried flowers, and cedary spice. It shows the elegance and mid-weight style of the vintage and has terrific balance and ripe tannins.
AGING: 15 months in French Oak Barrels
