Juan Cúneo Solari founded Casas del Bosque in 1993, at a time when the Chilean wine industry was pursuing quantity over quality. All fruit of this cool climate Syrah was sourced from vineyards located within the coolest, westernmost reaches of the Casablanca Valley.
A blend of 11 to 16 year old vines sourced from hillside blocks with northern exposure, planted on 110 million year old decomposed granite with a thin topsoil of red, iron-rich clay.

APPEARANCE Deep garnet in colour with a purple hue.
NOSE On the nose, notes of blackberry jam, black cherry, pepper, vanilla and cloves dominate.
PALATE In the mouth, the wine is big and ripe, with mouth-coating tannins and a long, pleasant finish.
AGEING Ageing occurred in new (30%) and used medium-toasted French oak barrels for 8 months.
PAIRING Syrah from Chile’s Casablanca Valley is the perfect match for a hearty grilled steak and slow-cooked lamb.
